Comparing The Best of Both Worlds - Lenovo Vibe Shot vs Huawei P8 Max
Chinese tech giants Lenovo and Huawei continue to impress us with their die-hard handsets, and these two, the Lenovo Vibe Shot and the Huawei P8max did exactly that. We took some time out to appreciate and get a feel of the two phones and see which one gets to go home with the title, best phone of the day. So here is what we discovered.
Lenovo announced that the release of the Vibe Shot in February 2015 and two months later, Huawei came out with a press release showcasing the upcoming P8max. The two have caused some buzz in Chinese phone markets and this is why.
Design & Specs
The weight and size of a handset although thought of as something minimal can sometimes play a big role between two phones. The P8max comes in at a weight of 228g almost double that of its rival which weighs in at 145g. The relative sizes are also 6.8 inches for the Huawei model versus the smaller 5.0 inches of the Lenovo.
Both of the handsets are multitouch and feature a candy bar LCD touchscreen and come in a variety of colours. We love our colours and were happy to see the diversity between the two handsets, with the P8max coming in ultra cool colours - titanium grey, luxurious gold, and mystic champagne and the Vibe Shot taking on more surreal tones of Graphite Grey, Crimson, and Pearl White. To protect the screens both phones are covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
The P8max’s internal memory is double that of its rival at 64 GB. MicroSD card slots exist on both handsets, but the only difference is that the Lenovo Vibe Shot can take up to 128 GB of extra memory whilst the P8 max can only extend up to 64 GB.
Should you need to connect your phone to your laptop, you won’t have any difficulty as the duo possess a microUSB port.
The feature we liked the most on the Lenovo Vibe Shot was its primary camera which has impressive 16MP functionality on top of optical image stabilisation. We also appreciated the P8max’s 13MP autofocus and dual LED flash camera. Secondary cameras came in at 8MP for the Lenovo Vibe and 5MP for the Huawei P8max.
To top it all off, the two both support Android OS v5.0 Lollipop.
Network
In a world where 3G is fast becoming outdated, we were happy to note that both these models support 4G LTE networks. So for those looking to purchase 4G capable phones, look no further than these two awesome models.
Both phones can access Wi-Fi and are Bluetooth enabled.
Pricing
Both handsets gave us something to think about and appreciate, but one of the final decisive factors for us will normally be the price of the gadget. Now, the Huawei P8max will cost you a whooping US$600, whilst the Lenovo Vibe Shot will leave you US$338 short. They are both great phones, we want to hear from you which one you would purchase.
When looking at the two handsets how would you decide which one to purchase? What is it that you look for in a phone? What are some must-have-features for you?
